From Awareness to Action – Building a Palliative Care Movement in Bangladesh
Palliative care is often misunderstood in Bangladesh. Many believe it is only for cancer patients or that it means giving up hope. These misconceptions prevent thousands from receiving the care they need and deserve.
Pallium Academy Bangladesh is working to change public perception through education, advocacy, and community engagement. The Academy organizes workshops, seminars, and public campaigns to raise awareness about what palliative care truly is: a compassionate approach that improves quality of life, regardless of diagnosis or prognosis.
But awareness alone is not enough. Pallium Academy turns knowledge into action by:
- Training healthcare professionals across disciplines.
- Equipping caregivers with practical tools.
- Creating networks of support in urban and rural communities.
This movement is not confined to hospitals—it’s spreading into homes, schools, and religious institutions. By empowering individuals and communities, Pallium Academy is building a culture where palliative care is not an afterthought, but a fundamental right.
